Magna-Tiles Snowflake
The most basic form of a snow crystal is a hexagonal prism… we can make that shape with Magna-Tiles! It is at the center of our Magna-Tiles Snowflake below.
In real life, there are many types of snowflakes! It is not easy to classify snowflakes because there is no one precise way to define them. Below is a table with the more common and/or distinctive types. Visit here to learn all about snowflakes! They have beautiful shapes and patterns!

Magna-Tiles and flashlights!
Flashlights are FUN to play in the dark!
The light shines through Magna-Tiles Clear Colors (our MEDIUM!) and creates a colorful reflection. The process of light striking an object and bouncing off is called REFLECTION.
Experiment by moving the flashlight at different angles!

Magna-Tiles Games: Let’s Play Hopscotch!!
The game of hopscotch uses early mathematical concepts including
- counting
- basic arithmetic
There are all sorts of ways to lay out your hopscotch board! What Magna-Tiles shapes do you see?
What rules do your and your friends follow when you play? Here are a few!
- call out numbers as you land on them
- skip the number that your rock is on (and then figure out which number comes after the skipped one)
- call out “left foot” or “one foot”
- when you hop backwards, you must COUNT backwards!
To reinforce and practice math skills, think about the following while you PLAY:
- number sequencing
- odd/even numbers
