Fine Motor Skills

When developing fine motor skills, we learn best directly.  The term “hands-on learning” is particularly appropriate because this is how we play – with our hands on the toys.

Magna-Tiles are sized just right for young hands!  Fine motor skills – small, precise thumb, finger, hand, and wrist movements – are important in learning and life! Children will develop these skills in every day activities including holding a pencil, cutting with scissors, eating with a spoon and everything in between! Young children are hands on and curious to try new things!

Playing with Magna-Tiles will help children develop hand-eye coordination and coordination of the muscles in the hands.

Magna-Tiles and Fine Motor Skills

Magna-Tiles are sized just right for little hands! Children enhance their fine motor skills when picking up, grasping, arranging and building with the geometric shapes. Children will spend hours playing with Magna-Tiles without frustration because they always connect! They will learn through play that the Magna-Tiles pieces “click” together – the power of magnets! Many children begin their experience with Magna-Tiles by stacking – putting the pieces together and taking them apart over and over – this is learning in action!

Practice!

Like anything else, Magna-Tects will become better builders as they spend more time playing! Children will learn how to best balance the pieces to create a beautiful structure. Children will learn which shapes create the strongest walls. Children will learn how much weight a creation can hold and how to use his/her hands to balance the next piece on top!
