Language, Pre-Reading Skills

Magna-Tiles play includes patterning and visual discrimination which reinforce pre-reading skills.

Children become familiar with and are able to compare different sizes and shapes while building with Magna-Tiles. These repeated experiences help children when they are learning letters of the alphabet and then figuring out how various combinations of letters make up words.

Language is based on patterns!

Magna-Tects can make a Magna-Tiles Message! Make the Shapes of the Letters of the Alphabet by:

  1. standing pieces up vertically or
  2. laying them flat on a surface
  3. build letters in 3-D!

“Look, I see a triangle in the letter A! The letter C is round!”

Increase language and vocabulary during play! Ask your children…. which tower is TALLER? How many more squares does the red tower have than the blue tower? Which tower has a greater perimeter? Incorporate math vocabulary and concepts into play from an early age and at all ages!
